Welcome to the Hookdeck Review for March 2024.

In March, we shipped Organizations and Projects, created an in-depth video sharing our thoughts on Event Gateways, and added webhook verification support for Telynx, Token.io, and Front. In April, we have two new exciting releases planned that we'd like your early feedback on: a Vercel Webhook Middleware and a TypeScript SDK.

Organizations and Projects

We released Organizations and Projects to better align with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) of engineering teams and how you structure your environments (dev, staging, prod) and use cases (inbound webhooks, outbound webhooks, connecting third-party services and APIs, etc.). This change also improves how you manage your configuration, billing, and access control.

Event Gateway video

In this video, we discuss the creation and definition of a new product category: the Event Gateway. We also cover the use cases an Event Gateway solves for, the capabilities and features one should provide, and the competitive landscape, including Amazon EventBridge, Azure Event Grid, Google Eventarc, and how Kafka fits in.

New webhook verification handling

In March, we added webhook verification support for the following services:

  • Telynx - Communications platform
  • Token.io - Open banking platform
  • Front - Customer communication platform

We also improved our handling of Adyen non-JSON webhook bodies.

Coming in April

We've got two new releases in April that we're particularly excited about, so we wanted to give you a heads-up:

Vercel Webhook Middleware

Vercel Webhook Middleware

Every month, we deliver hundreds of thousands of webhooks to Vercel application endpoints, so we want to make receiving, debugging, and building with webhooks on Vercel even easier.

The middleware goes beyond supporting the inbound webhooks use case; we'll save the details for the full release.

If this sounds interesting to you, please get in touch to request early access.

TypeScript SDK

Hookdeck TypeScript SDK

To improve the developer experience of working with the Hookdeck API, we're releasing a TypeScript SDK alongside our existing Hookdeck Go SDK.

If you're interested in early access, please get in touch.

That's it for the March review.

As always, please get in touch with your thoughts on Hookdeck, event gateways, getting early access to our Vercel webhook middleware, our TypeScript SDK, or anything else.
