Hookdeck Review: August 2025

In this August 2025 review, we cover our new deduplication feature to eliminate redundant events, Microsoft Teams integration for real-time issue notifications, free metrics now available to all users, Outpost v0.5.0 with Amazon S3 destination support, and our upcoming speaking engagements at Stripe Dublin and API Days London.
Deduplication: Eliminate Redundant Events
Deduplication removes redundant events by comparing them against previously processed events within a time window. This new feature helps reduce processing overhead from excessive retries and noisy updates (like Shopify product updates).
Here's what you can do with deduplication:
- Exact Deduplication: Drop perfectly identical webhooks for retry storms
- Field-Based Matching: Choose which fields define duplicates — use request IDs or exclude volatile fields like timestamps
- Flexible Time Windows: Configure 1 second to 1 hour windows to balance suppression with legitimate updates
Deduplication works as a connection rule alongside filters and transformations, giving you complete control over your event processing pipeline.
Try deduplication to reduce processing costs and eliminate webhook noise.
Microsoft Teams Integration
The new Microsoft Teams notifications integration brings real-time issue monitoring directly to your Teams channels. Like our Slack integration, it keeps your team informed about event issues without leaving your collaboration workspace.
Here's what you can do:
- New Issue Alerts: Get notified instantly when new event issues arise
- Issue Updates: Track when issues are being acknowledged or ignored
- Resolution Notifications: Know immediately when issues are resolved
- Flexible Channel Support: Connect to any public or private channel in your Microsoft Teams organization
The integration seamlessly fits into your existing workflow, ensuring your team stays on top of event health whether you're using Teams for incident management, developer collaboration, or operational monitoring.
Set up Teams integration in your project settings.
Metrics Are Now Free for Everyone
Previously gated to higher plans, metrics gives you visibility into request activity, event throughput, delivery status, retries, and more. It's a critical piece of observability when building reliable event-driven systems.
We've also made UX improvements:
- Grouping by Source, Connection, and Destination: Better organization of your metrics data
- Totals integrated into each chart: Clearer data visualization
- New "Explore" button: Drill down into data for deeper insights
This change makes essential observability tools available to all Hookdeck users, helping you monitor and optimize your event-driven architecture regardless of your plan level.

Outpost v0.5.0: Amazon S3 Support
Outpost, our self-hosted webhook and event destinations service, now supports Amazon S3 queues and topics as an event destination in v0.5.0. This is a significant expansion for developer tool companies targeting developers building on AWS infrastructure or using S3-based application stacks.
Key features in this release:
- S3 Event Destination Support: Core functionality added by community contributors @eberle1080 and, as always, @alexluong
- Dashboard Integration Demo: New examples showing Outpost integration patterns
- Railway Quickstart Documentation: Simplified template for the Railway platform
This release showcases the growing Outpost community and the platform's expanding capabilities for self-hosted event delivery. The Amazon S3 integration opens up new possibilities for event archiving, analytics pipelines, and data lake integrations.

Community Events
We're excited to be speaking at two events in September, sharing our expertise on webhook handling and the future of API event delivery.
Stripe Developers Meetup Dublin
I'll be speaking at the Stripe Developer Meetup in Dublin on September 18th. My talk, "Reliably Handling Webhooks at Scale: Best Practices and Lessons Learned," will cover the practical insights we've gained from processing over 100 billion webhooks.
The meetup also features Nolan Sullivan from Speakeasy speaking on "Bridging the gap between your API and LLMs." The event runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Stripe's Dublin offices.
API Days London
I'll also be presenting at API Days London from September 22-24. My talk, "Beyond Webhooks: The Future of Scalable API Event Delivery," will explore emerging patterns and technologies shaping the next generation of event-driven architectures.
API Days London focuses on "No AI without APIs" and brings together 2,000+ participants for 100+ sessions across three days. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with the API community and discuss the evolving landscape of event delivery.
That's it for the August 2025 review.
